On October 18, 2018, Bank Audi took part in the Multi-Stakeholder Forum hosted by the Global Compact Network Lebanon (GCNL), under the patronage and in the presence of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al Hariri at the Grand Serail. This forum provided stakeholders with the opportunity to discuss latest practices of sustainable development, facilitate collaborations, discover innovative ways to advance SDGs in Lebanon, and cooperate to reach the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
Prominent leaders of the community were present at the event to show their support to the GCNL’s cooperation in order to reach the 2030 Agenda. H.R.H Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden was the honorary invitee and one of the main speakers at the event.
MP Dr. Dima Jamali, GCNL’s President, opened the forum with a speech, after which, Prime Minister Saad Al Hariri and H.R.H. addressed the audience. They affirmed their substantial support to attain the UN 2030 agenda. The 2030 agenda aims at ending poverty in all its forms. This Agenda envisions a world of universal respect for human rights and dignity.
Senior managers of various Lebanese companies as well as HR and CSR managers attended the panel. National and international pioneers joined the forum and enlightened the public with live panels aimed at raising awareness and provoking a sense of urgency to work towards achieving the 17 SDGs.
Mr. Marc Audi, Country Manager Lebanon, discussed how the Bank adopted and implemented SDG 8: “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. Bank Audi championned SDG8 since it is a pioneer in the Lebanese community as well as the largest bank in Lebanon.
“The only word of wisdom is that 2030 is very close. We cannot be spectators, we have to be actors and each one of us, each one of you, has to contribute somehow to this achievement of sustainability,” stated Mr. Audi.
