The Lebanese Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) recognized the environmental initiatives of a number of private Lebanese organizations in an award ceremony at Mövenpick Hotel on Friday December 19, 2014.

The event was lead by the UNDP Country Director Luca Renda and Minister Mohammad Machnouk who granted certificates of acknowledgment to 33 institutions for reporting their greenhouse gas emissions. Bank Audi was the first and only bank in Lebanon to do so, as it reduced its environmental impact by 4% in the first year of measurement. The total GHG emissions of Bank Audi in 2013 amounted to 21,309.9 tCO2e compared to 22,199.8 tCO2e in 2012.

These quantified GHGs come from several sources grouped into Scope 1 (own generation of power and refrigerants), Scope 2 (purchase of electricity from EDL and shared generators) and from selected indirect emission sources in Scope 3 (paper consumption, business trips and courier services).

Bank Audi took part in this study to quantify and comprehend the nature of its energy consumption in order to take steps to reduce its environmental footprint.
