Bank Audi sal - Audi Saradar Group, in association with MasterCard Worldwide and under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism in Lebanon, has announced the launch of the “Shop & Win with Lebanon” campaign. The event took place at Bank Audi Plaza on February 27, 2009, in presence of H.E. Mr. Elie Marouni, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Mr. Raymond Audi, Minister of the Displaced, in addition to representatives from MasterCard Worldwide – Mr. Denzil Lawson, General Manager, Middle East & Levant, and Mr. Basel Eltell, Vice-President and Regional Manager, Levant –, as well as prominent participating merchants involved in the campaign.

The “Shop & Win with Lebanon” campaign extends over a period of 6 months, from March 1 until August 31, 2009. The campaign was designed to support tourism in Lebanon by promoting Lebanon as a key tourist destination in the Middle East & Levant region, while supporting Lebanon’s economic growth. It was created to offer all MasterCard cardholders, particularly Arab and foreign tourists, the chance to win monthly cash draws worth USD 50,000 by using their cards at Bank Audi participating merchant outlets.

To win, MasterCard cardholders would simply need to make purchases at participating merchant outlets within Lebanon, and automatically enter the draw to win one of the 30 prizes which are distributed as follows: 5 draws worth USD 5,000 each and 25 draws worth USD 1,000 each. MasterCard cardholders visiting Lebanon will have the benefit of doubling their chance of winning the prizes.

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Elie Marouni commented: “In 2008, more than 1,400,000 expatriates and tourists visited Lebanon. We are determined to continue to promote Lebanon as a popular destination with rich heritage, culture and landscapes. The “Shop & Win with Lebanon” campaign allows us to cater to the needs of the tourism sector while contributing to the economic development of Lebanon. In this respect, I would like to thank Bank Audi and MasterCard for creating this program, which we believe contributes to further establishing the tourism industry in Lebanon.”

As for Mrs. Randa Bdeir, Head of Electronic Banking and Business Development at Bank Audi, she stated: “Creating this program originated from Bank Audi’s commitment to support tourism in Lebanon by promoting Lebanon as a well-rounded and appealing destination. After all, “The New York Times”, one of the world's most influential newspapers, has counted Beirut among the "44 places to go to in 2009". We would like to thank MasterCard for their support in promoting this campaign across the Middle East, which will attract a substantial number of tourists to Lebanon during the promotion period. We are delighted to be able to offer our Bank Audi merchant network a tool to boost their sales by including them in this promotion, and to give all MasterCard cardholders visiting Lebanon the chance to win great prizes by using their cards at our merchant network.”

Mr. Denzil Lawson, General Manager, Middle East & Levant, MasterCard Worldwide, said: “We are pleased to join forces with Bank Audi, one of the leading banks in Lebanon, to launch a campaign that supports the Ministry of Tourism’s ongoing efforts to develop Lebanon as a leading tourist destination in the Middle East & Levant and globally. At MasterCard, we are committed to continuously reward MasterCard cardholders, no matter where they are in the world. Our sponsorship of the “Shop & Win in Lebanon” campaign reinforces our commitment to bring value-added benefits to MasterCard cardholders living in or visiting the fascinating country of Lebanon.”
