Bank Audi hosted a press conference on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, to launch its “My Carbon Footprint” initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The “My Carbon Footprint” project, whose pilot phase is launched in partnership with La Sagesse and Al Makassed schools, consists of two aspects: it addresses climate change whilst raising awareness among 10 to 15-year olds on the use of resources and its impact on the environment.
An informative and fun microsite, www.my-cfp.com, was developed by Bank Audi in this respect, with a view to inducing the youth to monitor and reduce their household energy expenses and their effect on Mother Nature. The site will allow children to database their homes’ electricity, paper, gas and fuel consumption, during a period of four months starting February 1st, 2016.
Mr. Marc Audi, General Manager Lebanon – Bank Audi sal, seized the occasion to underline the “importance of sensitizing today’s youth to the adoption of environment-friendly and ethical resource consumption practices, and its positive effect on the global climate.”
Mrs. Lea Kai Aboujaoude, Manager at the UNDP Climate Change Office at the Ministry of Environment, highlighted the importance of the partnership between the public and the private sector, and thanked Bank Audi “for this commendable initiative which motivates children and teenagers to cut down on their carbon footprint, thus contributing in building a generation of civically engaged citizens.”
Mrs. Hasmig Khoury, Head of CSR at Bank Audi, emphasized, in conclusion, that “every simple small action makes a big difference on the environment.”
