In a ceremony held at Bank Audi Plaza – Bab Idriss on August 9, 2016, Bank Audi announced the winners of the “My Carbon Footprint” competition, an initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The “My Carbon Footprint” project, whose pilot phase was launched in partnership with La Sagesse and Al Makassed schools, addresses climate change while raising awareness among the youth on the use of resources and its impact on the environment.
The three winners of the project’s first edition are Joya Ayoub from La Sagesse St. Maron (1st place), Sara Khodari (2nd place) from Al Makassed Omar Ben Al Khattab, and Francesca El Helou (3rd place) from La Sagesse Brasilia. They were selected for the high scores they were able to get on my-cfp.com; an informative and fun microsite developed by Bank Audi. This platform allows participants to monitor and reduce their household energy expenses and their effect on nature, by keeping track of their homes’ electricity, paper, gas and fuel consumption.
Mr. Jean Traboulsi, Head of Marketing and Communications at Bank Audi, seized the opportunity to express his admiration for today’s youth and for “their eagerness to learn and adopt environment-friendly and ethical resource consumption practices which have positive effects on the global climate.”
Mrs. Lea Kai Aboujaoude, Manager at the UNDP Climate Change Office at the Ministry of Environment, highlighted the importance of the partnership between the public and the private sector, and thanked Bank Audi “for this commendable initiative which motivates children and teenagers to reduce their carbon footprint, thus contributing to building a generation of civically engaged citizens.”
Mrs. Hasmig Khoury, Head of CSR at Bank Audi, congratulated the winners, underlining that this first phase of My Carbon Footprint “was a success and paves the way for future editions in years to come.”
