An awareness press conference organised by Kunhadi ─ a Lebanon-based NGO for youth awareness on road safety in Lebanon and the region ─ and supported by the United Nations, the World Health Organization and the Lebanese Ministry of Interior, was held at the UNESCO Palace on May 11, 2011, to launch a unique initiative in a large number of countries, the “Decade of Action for Road Safety”, which will extend from 2011 till 2020.
The conference, which was held under the auspices of H.E. Mr. Ziad Baroud, Minister of the Interior in the current caretaker government, and in presence of prominent officials, witnessed the signing by Minister Baroud of Bank Audi’s “Conscientious Driver Pledge Letter”, part of the Bank’s CSR-oriented Conscientious Driver campaign launched in December 2010 and involving different activities and different stakeholders, from Bank Audi employees and customers to the public at large.
The Conscientious Driver Pledge Letter, which has been put, together with a series of awareness instruments such as car stickers, at customers’ disposal at Bank Audi’s 72 branches for over 6 months with the aim of encouraging responsible driving (wearing seatbelts, banning drinking and driving, respecting speed limits, road signs and traffic lights…), has already been signed by more than 5000 people to date.
The conference was followed by an exhilarating concert featuring Band Audi, Bank Audi’s very own music club, which got all the audience’s attention and spread a casual ambience on the premises.
